The Grape Escapade 2011 Food & Lifestyle Festival Goa - A Resounding Success

The four day extravaganza of haute cuisine, wine and entertainment reached mass proportions this year as over 30,000 visitors thronged Goa's only Food & Lifestyle between the 27th and 30th of Januray 2011.

The Inox Courtyard, Panjim was abuzz with activity on all four days as wine tasting sessions, fusion cuisine, exotic, desserts and live performances attracted guests of all ages. Apart from locals, the event also drew both foriegn and domestic tourists in large numbers.

The festival organised by Goa Tourism Developement Corporation (GTDC) in association with the Department of Tourism , Government of Goa, brought together international wine makers and connoisseurs, entertainers, foodies, professionals from the hospitality and lifestyle industry as well as food and wine enthusiasts.

The event was inaugrated on the 27th of January, 2011 by Mr. Shyam Satardekar, Chairman of GTDC and MLA Curchorem in presence of Gourish Dhond, President TTAG, Mr. Swapnil Naik, Director - Departemnt of Tourism , Nikhil Dessai, Managing Director , GTDC and large number of domestic & International tourists.

The Inox Courtyard, decorated with large bottle cutouts and life-like grapes added to the flamboyant ambience of the event. Leading wine manufacturers and exporters from across India, wineries, hoteliers and restaurateurs participated in the festival which includes Blue Star Agro Winery, Pause Wines, RIo Wine, Vintage Wines, Zampa Wines ( Vallee De Vin Pvt. Ltd), Kingfisher Bohemia, Sula Wines, A.D Wines (Deshmukh Wines) , Aditya Wine, Big Banyan , Bio Wines, Vallonne Vineyards, Prestuge Wines, Tonia, Vinee, Champagn Indage (Brew & Spirits), Waman Hari Pethe Jewellers, Reveilo, Vasquitos, Rio resort, Republic of Chicken,The HQ, Dream Cuisine, Bottle Bay, O Hotel & The Chocolate MAn's Production, Natural Ice Cream, Goa Culture Guild & cheese stall. There was a grand display inspirational brand like Mercedes Benz E- Class at the event venue by Alcon, Porvorim.

The Wine Club, Mumbai has also supported the event by giving updates of event online though their website also educating the guests about wines. Thay have sponsored gifts to the guests during who attented wine tasting & Grape Stomping.

The Grape Escape 2011 captured the joy and exuberance of Goa through a host of musical performances, fashion shows and live entertainment. Energetic dance performances by troupes like 'Impressions' and Xtremes' kept the guests entertained while mood setters Alfie and Cheryl made sure there was never a dull moment. Famous fashion designer Monty Saly showcased his collection through an entralling fashion show.

Other variety entertainment was provided by 'Lui' goes solo. Mario Trios, Lethal Ladies (London), Elvis and Angela, Sonia Sirsat, Nezz and Nika, Sheldon Trios, African Acrobats etc. Live bands like Varun & the 2 timers, Brothers in Arms, Swingers, Carlos & friends and A26 kept the crowd in high spirits.

There was a wine tating session conducted by GTDC with the professional assistance of Joseoh Pereira, Head Sommelier, D-Vine Events & Education , Mumbai. The session was sponsored by A. D Wines & Aditya Wines. Wine connoisseurs who attended the session enjoyed different flavours of the wines & obtained wine education during the wine tasting session.

Another highlight of the event was the Grape Stomping where guests got barefoot into tubs and gleefully crushed grapes to live music.

The festival culminated in the crowning of the Grape Escapade Queen 2011. This year the title was won by Tejal Mahambre, who received a diamond pendant courtesy Waman Hari Pethe Jewellers. Runner-up , Racheal Susan Feriera bagged the Goa - Sharjah -Goa air-tickets, courtesy Air Arabia.

The organizers maintained that the festival is the perfect platform to showcase haute cuisine and hi-end luxury brands and lifestyle products and stated that they expect the event to attract even more participation in the years to come. The event was managed by M/s Vinsan Graphics.
