Goa Tourism‘s Vintage Car and Bike festival a grand success

Goa Tourism organized the third edition of the Goa Vintage Car & Bike festival on Sunday, April 14, 2019, at the Inox Courtyard, Panaji. The festival was aimed at celebrating the passion for collecting and preserving vintage cars and bikes.

Many fine examples of cars and bikes right from the 18th Century were on display at the Inox Courtyard. Many vintage cars and motorcycles drove in from different parts of Goa and neighbouring states to be a part of this event.

As many as 45 cars and 70 bikes were on display at the venue. Cadillac Limousine of 1959 model restored by the Raj Bhavan, Goa, was a favourite among the visitors.

The 2019 Goa Vintage Car & Bike Festival, organized in collaboration with the Vintage & Classic Car Federation of India (VCCFI), was flagged off from Inox Courtyard, by the Chief Electoral Officer, Mr. Kunal who was the Chief Guest along with Secretary of Tourism, Mr. J. Ashok Kumar, in the presence of Collector of North Goa, Ms R. Maneka, Director of Tourism, Mr. Sanjiv Gadkar, Chairman of Indian Express Group, Mr. Viveck Goenka , Consultant for Autocar magazine Mr. Perseus Bandrawalla and curator of the event, MD of Ashvek Vintage World Mr. Pradip Naik.

The vintage cars and bikes rallied through Campal, around the Miramar beach circle and back into Panaji alongside the picturesque river promenade of the Mandovi and took a U-turn at the Statue of Abbe Faria (Old Secretariat) and returned back to Inox Courtyard for display.

Momentos were presented to owners of all the participating vintage cars & bikes.

International fashion designer Verma D’Mello, who is also the Goa Election Commission’s icon, put on an exclusive fashion show for the audience highlighting Goa’s traditional Kunbi fabric with singer Mary Joe live. Goa’s popular band Crimson Tide performed with some energetic dance performances. Refreshing food & drink stalls added to the gala.

The office of Chief Electoral Officer collaborated with the Goa Tourism to promote its special campaign #SaveTheDate and #GoVote that are based on creating awareness about voter awareness and ethical voting ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections. They had exclusive selfie points and banners at the venue to spread awareness and to increase the voter turnout on 23rd April 2019.

The event was organized by Advertising Associates and curated by Ashvek Vintage World, supported by Vintage and Classic Car Federation of India (VCCFI) with the Country’s leading automobile magazine- Autocar as the media partner and VIVA GOA as the lifestyle magazine partner.

The Spirit of Goa Festival 2019

Goa Tourism’s The Spirit of Goa Festival 2019 to be held from April 26-28, 2019

Goa Tourism is all set to organize the second edition of The Spirit of Goa Festival 2019 from 26th April to 28th April in association with the Goa Feni Distillers & Bottlers.

The three day event revolves around Goa's much loved Coconut and Cashew in a variety of products, cuisine, beverages, handicrafts etc. showcasing the traditional aspects and the goodness associated with this produce including home grown spirits ranging from Feni, Urak, local beverage, liqueurs, homemade wines and more.

The Spirit of Goa Festival 2019 will also have live demos on distilling of the cashew juice into Goa's much relished heritage brew Feni. Besides authentic Goan food, coconut and cashew will also be the key ingredients in the cuisine and beverages prepared and served during the three-day festival.

A cashew stomping competition will also be organized along with Masterclasses and cooking demos conducted by renowned professionals like Karl Fernandes - Professional Mixologist and Chef Avinash Martins & Tiz Martins who will showcase some authentic yet innovative Goan Cuisine.

A variety of exciting programs, entertainment, workshops and competitions will be scheduled and loads of prizes and surprises are set to enthrall the audience.

The Spirit of Goa Festival Entertainment has been planned to bring out the musical spirit carved out in the hearts of every Goan. From timeless Konkani & Portuguese classics to modern day English Latin styles with jazz and funk rhythms. The festival line up boasts of well curated large format ensembles with full brass sections never seen on stage before.

Day 1, Friday 26th April will see Valentinos perform alongside authentic and traditional Goan dances followed by the Take 5 Ensemble featuring over 15 musicians and singers getting together to put up a never before musical treat complete with a horn section, violin section, flute guitars, chorus singers and a number of lead singers

Day 2, April 27th Saturday will feature a young talented Goan music group Clay Jars featuring Goa’s youngest drummer with a fusion dance group called the ‘A UNIT that will tell stories on stage.

This act will be followed by The Coffee Cats Ensemble, featuring over 14 musicians and singers, playing with a full brass ensemble, along with, violins, cello etc. A mammoth stage performance indeed for the first time in Goa.

Day 3, April 28th Sunday Will see Jazz Junction light up the stage with their Latin grooves and jazz funk, featuring guest singers from Goa & Portugal.

The Finale will be Goa’s very own legend, Lorna who will perform Live bringing a fitting closure to the three day festival.

The Festival will also feature a serenading live acoustic Brass Band on the grounds to add to the Spirit of Goa Festival 2019.

A giant digitally mapped screen will feature customized authentic Goan themed backdrops with full 3d animation, making it a visual treat for all the visitors. Parking around the venue will be arranged in a one way format with one entry and one exit. If parking is full, visitors are advised to use the Parade ground and the Traffic Police appeals to all car owners not to park their vehicles on the footpaths.

The second edition of The Spirit of Goa Festival 2019 commenced today amidst much funfair and enthusiasm at the D.B. Bandodkar Grounds, Campal, Panjim.

The festival was inaugurated on Friday evening by Mr. J Ashok Kumar, IAS, Secretary(Tourism) in the distinguished presence of Mr. Sanjiv Gadkar, Director ,Department of Tourism, Mr. Nikhil Desai, MD,GTDC and host of dignitaries and officials.

The three day festival from April 26-28, 2019 is organized by Goa Tourism to promote local distilleries and tourism.
