Ajgaonkar hails decision for Opinion Poll Square: strongly moots for installation of statue of late Babu Naik at Colva Circle

Panjim, Jan 12: While hailing the initiative to declare Colva Circle as Opinion Poll Square, the Hon’ble Minister for Tourism & Sports, Mr. Manohar Ajgaonkar has pointed out that this exercise would remain incomplete without the installation of the statue of late Anant Narcinva (Babu) Naik, the former Industries Minister and MLA of Margao.

“Late Babu Naik was a pioneer of the Opinion Poll and it will be fitting to have his statue installed at the Colva Circle which is being declared as Opinion Poll Square,” Mr. Ajgaonkar said.Dr Jack Sequeira and Late Babu Naik were two great goans who always worked to preserve the communal and cultural fabric of Goa.

Recalling Late Babu Naiks contribution to politics and his social work, Mr. Ajgaonkar described late Babu Naik as atruevisionary and leader of the Bahujan Samaj. He also recalled his sacrifices in forfeiting the opportunity of becoming the Chief Minister of Goa and taking Goan politics to the national level. The installationofstatue of Late Babu Naik at the Opinion Poll Square will become a landmark for all and will inspire the youth of today to take up various social causes concerning Goa in an effort to protect Goy, Goykay and Goykarpan.

Mr. Ajgaonkar has also supported the idea ofinstallingstatue of Dr Jack Sequeira at Assembly Complex. Mr. Ajgaonkar today also hailedthedecision taken by the Margao Municipal Council in declaring Colva Circle as Opinion Poll Square and for organizing to honour stalwarts of the Opinion Poll on 16th January 2018.
